Bucket List for the Ham Fam

In 2021, Ashley Hammer was diagnosed with a TP53 gene mutation—a rare and serious condition that can cause cells to grow uncontrollably, significantly increasing the risk of cancer. In October 2023, bloodwork confirmed that the mutation had progressed into her bloodstream. This marked the beginning of a 3-5 year countdown toward the likely development of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), which, once active in patients with TP53, becomes terminal within 2–10 months.

Initially, Ashley wasn’t fully informed about the severity and terminal nature of this diagnosis. But in 2024, her father-in-law was diagnosed with AML. He sadly passed away in May 2025. Following his sudden decline, Ashley and her family discovered he had also carried the TP53 mutation. That heartbreaking realization brought Ashley back to her doctors, where her fears were confirmed—AML paired with TP53 is terminal.

Ashley is the proud mother of 11 children and shares a deeply loving marriage with her husband. She wants to spend her time checking off everything on her bucket list—with her family by her side—but she’s also concerned about the financial strain that might place on them.

This fundraiser was created to ease that burden and give the Ham Fam the chance to focus on what matters most: making memories, not worrying about money.

We’re honored to host author C.R. Hunt, who is immortalizing Ashley’s story in the second installment of his True Gods Rising series. He’ll be signing copies of book one, reading excerpts from the upcoming release, and raffling off the chance to help create a character or monster in his next book.

Local vendors, artisans, and businesses will also be contributing goods and services to a community raffle, all in support of Ashley and her beautiful family.
